The SKOGSDUVA collection

In the 2024 IKEA Play Report, we found that "having fun together as a family" topped the chart of emotional priorities for both parents and children.

But in a day filled with meetings and a never-ending to-do list, making time to engage imaginatively with children can end up feeling like yet another task to be ticked off. The SKOGSDUVA collection sets out to help infuse more playfulness into everyday life through educational, inspirational and practical products that are ready to play a role in the next bedtime story.

Just take a look around! A pillow is also a log, a bathrobe can turn you into a lynx, a rug is a meadow and a duvet cover doubles as magical forest map. We've got the backdrop, the characters and the beginnings of a plot. Now, you and your family get to continue the story. So, where does this tale begin?

Once upon a time...

It's the best part of the day – story time! Tonight’s tale has taken you on a journey through a lush forest, filled with wonderful creatures and friends. Tucked under your cosy duvet, you're trying your best to stay awake, but your eyelids have other ideas.

Buzz, buzz, buzz! It's time to wake up!

There is a harmonious hum coming from above. You must have drifted off to sleep. But... where are you? You open your eyes and... can it be? You’re in the Swedish forest from your storybook! You stand up from the springy, mossy forest floor and look around you. Sunshine breaks through the branches of towering beech trees and there they are! A cloud of busy bumblebees. Let’s follow them!

Follow the toadstools

You run along below the bumblebees as they fly deeper and deeper into the forest. But just as quickly as they appeared, they are off once more in search of wildflowers to pollinate.

You look around and realise you're surrounded by toadstools as big as your head! In fact, they look big enough to sit on. Maybe you can take a seat for a moment and catch your breath. It’s beginning to get a little chilly. A cup of tea would go down so well right now!

A woodland tea party

It’s as if someone read your mind. You hear a rustling in the bushes and a hedgehog rolls out, clutching a tiny teacup! Behind the leaves, a joyous tea party is underway with all the creatures of the forest. Snowy owls hoot with delight while a lynx tucks into some tasty treats. An otter and her baby float down the river nearby and wave hello, while an arctic fox watches from afar – a little too shy to join in on the fun.

Did you know the snowy owl can turn its head 135 degrees in each direction without moving its body?

Did you know the lynx is the largest wild cat in Europe? Its thick fur keeps it warm during winter and its big furry paws act as natural snowshoes. Since it avoids human settlements, the lynx is an unusual sight.

Did you know that hedgehogs raise their sharp spines and turn into prickly, round balls when threatened? This defence protects their soft bellies!

Did you know that baby otters stay with their mothers for the whole first year? During this time, she teaches them everything they need to know about hunting and how to survive in the wild.

An adventure for the books

The sun has started to set and the animals have begun to head back to their nests, caves and burrows, or off into the night on the hunt. Your eyelids start to feel heavy once more. Bedtime beckons! “Where will I wake up tomorrow?” you wonder to yourself as you drift off to dreamland under the stars.
