Future collectables, designed for today
STOCKHOLM 2025
The STOCKHOLM collection celebrates 40 years of craftsmanship and timeless Scandinavian design. Continuing the STOCKHOLM tradition, this collection reflects style and quality you can see, feel and love, at an affordable price. A collection today. Collectables tomorrow.
In 1985, IKEA launched a collection of elegant, classic furniture with a timeless design. Its name was STOCKHOLM. Over four decades the collection has evolved through eight distinct editions, while always staying true to its roots. Created by designers Paulin Machado, Nike Karlsson and Ola Wihlborg and led by Creative Leader Karin Gustavsson, STOCKHOLM 2025 is no exception.

Materials take centre stage: Combining handmade techniques such as handwoven rugs and mouth-blown glass with natural materials like pine, oak, leather and rattan, the result is a collection that was created to age beautifully.

The 96-piece collection is the biggest STOCKHOLM edition yet, offering a wide collection of items for across the home, from furniture and textiles to lighting and accessories. While earlier collections focused on cohesive palettes and matching pieces, the latest STOCKHOLM collection embraces bold combinations and a greater variety of materials and colours.

The STOCKHOLM collection was created with everyday modern living in mind. An ‘only for special occasions’ mentality gives way to joyful informality, with beautiful mix-and-matchable stoneware plates and mouth-blown carafes and glasses that celebrate every day.
“People want to mix and match and create a much more personalised space. Long gone are the perfectly matching sets of furniture. And this collection plays to that, it is cohesive, but things stand out on their own and create personality.”
Karin Gustavsson, Creative Leader

Nature is everywhere. Even Sweden’s buzzing capital boasts forests and the small, lush islands of Stockholm’s famous archipelago. So, when it came to creating a collection that would reflect its namesake, the designers put on their hiking shoes and set off.
Deep chocolate brown, rich greens and stark black and white reflect rainy autumn days and snow-covered winter, in contrast to blues and the rich ochre yellow of spring flowers and long, bright summer days.

”You’d think a collection called STOCKHOLM would just have a big city feeling. But we went outside the city, to the nature and islands around it. That shift was inspiring.”
Nike Karlsson, Designer
“Nature is the best designer – every colour matches beautifully in the natural world.”
Paulin Machado, Designer

Changes in how we live at home are reflected in the collection. For example, Ola Wihlborg’s modular sofa allows for multiple configurations for different spaces. And tables and chairs come in flatpack packaging for convenience, with legs that click securely into place without the need for tools, thanks to our patented wedge dowel fitting.

“I wanted to create a sofa that stays looking the same even after you stand up sitting in it - truly comfortable without extra pillows or details. We focused on a soft shape with supportive pocket springs and high-resilience foam to hold its shape and comfort over time.”
Ola Wihlborg, Designer

”We wanted this collection to feel like a home that’s been collected over time, even if you buy all the pieces at once. Despite being created by three designers, our shared vision allows the pieces to complement each other beautifully.”
Nike Karlsson , Designer

Lighting makes a statement, with plain and patterned table lamps with texture and retro style glass chandeliers inspired by the famous Murano chandeliers. They even come with a pair of white gloves for installing – how fancy is that?

“We wanted a large metal and glass lighting solution that reminds people of traditional chandeliers with a retro, international classic style. Inspired by Murano chandeliers, we focused on achieving a beautiful lighting expression using glass as the main material."
Nike Karlsson , Designer

Mouth-blown glass vases are functional works of art. Since each piece is shaped by hand, no two pieces are exactly the same. Whether displayed as an object to be admired or used to hold a bouquet of blooms, a STOCKHOLM vase always draws the eye in for a closer look.

Although conceptualised as a collection, each STOCKHOLM piece stands on its own – like the treasures in a home that have been collected over time. From statement lighting and storage that elevates everyday items, to sculptural dining chairs and oversized vases, each piece is ready to create your own STOCKHOLM style. Alternatively, mix and match with existing favourites to create a look that’s uniquely yours.
